One of the most beautiful towns we encountered in Morocco was also one of the most friendly and laidback. Located on the Atlantic coast just south of Tangier, Asilah is impossibly charming. It is a popular seaside resort, with modern holiday apartment complexes on the coast road leading to the town from Tangier. It hosts annual music and arts festivals, including a murales painting festival:[1] the best paintings remain on the Medina walls for the following years.

Asilah feels and looks a lot like a Spanish town in Andalucía. It is a lovely, old, very clean white-washed town on the Atlantic. The town has a very quiet feel, and makes for a good stop. The ramparts and towers of the town give you the impression time has stood still here, and if you walk down the small alleys at lunch time you can’t help but wonder at the tranquility.
